Just wanted you to know I had to put my 10 yr old boxer to sleep on friday..it was one of the hardest decisions O had to make but we were bing selfish keeping her alive. She had cancer and was in pain towards the end..I hated seeing her like that. 5/10/00-7/23-10 RIP Bailey..

Really sorry to hear that Eilene but I think you made the right decision. When your pet can't do the things she loves to do anymore and is in pain, I think it's time to let them go.

For what it's worth, I've been in that position. I had my Siamese cat Vixen for 13 years before diabetes took her kidneys. There was just nothing more the vet could do for her so I had her put to sleep.

I agree...toughest decision I've ever had to make but in the end I realized that keeping Vixen alive was just selfish on my part. This was over 5 years ago and I'm still tearing as I type this.

Sorry to hear of your loss Eilene! It is sooo hard to put a pet down! I've said a Prayer for Bailey and you!!!

I still get choked up when I think of my beagle Max and my kitty Zowie! They both got sick at seven! Cancer and kidney failure!

My dog Jazz and one of my cats Plumpy are both 12 and I know the day could come soon for either of them but for now they still have quality in their life but they both deal with pain too!

I know it feels to lose your best friend , I lost my sheperd mix she was so well behaved she had to put down because she was vomitting blood because she had a heart murmer which caused her to to be put asleep i was there at her side but they said there was nothing they could do. i really miss her. I have two dogs now shepard/collie 6yrs. old male and a golden retriever 5yrs old female. murray and brandi are they're names. Murray is very protected of her both are fixed. i said some prayers for u Eilene.

Birds live a long time..Some parrots liveto be 100 years old

so the bird would outlive the people that had it

Yes soem of them...My bird I have now will live about 40 years...

I guess the birds have to move to a new home
