went to zz top lastnight...

...and it was a good time! not the best show i have ever seen by them but good nonetheless! interesting setlist...i need you tonight was kinda cool to see as was party on the patio! the encore was rockin'; especially with la grange and tush (dusty sang his bag off on the latter, lol!) i don't know how many more times i will get the chance to see these guys and especially in my home town!!

the opening act (a canadian band called wide mouth mason) was quite good too! as an added bonus, canadian rock/blues icon gordie johnson (of big sugar fame) was playing bass for them! all in all, it was a really solid night of bluesy rock n roll!!

Gordie playin' bass for Wide Mouth Mason would be worth the ticket alone! I love these one-off Rock n Roll moments! Puts you right into a little piece of history!!!

As for ZZ Top, I LOVE 'em and they always put on a great show! Personally I am not a fan of their 80's material but realize that their biggest hits must be played! I LOVE ZZ when they dig deep into the Blues and this set list shows some diggin' indeed! I really do not care for Viva Las Vegas and do not understand why they have included it in their set but Waitin' for the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago, I'm Bad I'm Nationwide, Future Blues, Rock Me Baby, Cheap Sunglasses, My Head's in Mississippi, Hey Joe, Brown Sugar (great deep cut), Just Got Paid, La Grange and Tush by themselves would make this a stand out show alone!!!

thanks criss...it was a good show! i wish they would have played some deep stuff like blue jean blues or fool for your stockings...you know, the real slow, gritty, bluesy stuff!! that would have done it for me!!! it was good to see them one more time.

i may go see jethro tull tonight...they are playing at the casino in town and i may have to pony up the $35.00 to see them, too!! at least lastnight's show was free...i have no excuse: I AM GOING TONIGHT, lol!!
